MORA, Minn. -- Amber Ryan had 21 kills and 12 digs to lead Esko past Carlton 25-23, 25-19, 19-25, 25-21 in the Section 5AA high school volleyball semifinals Thursday night.
Eleena Iisakka had 30 set assists and 15 digs for the Eskomos (24-4), who face St. Cloud Cathedral for the section title at 6 p.m. Saturday at the College of St. Benedict's in St. Joseph, Minn.
Amber Bloom had 16 kills for Carlton (24-2).

Apple Valley wins Class AA title

Kevin Hein's goal in the 53rd minute broke a 1-1 tie and lifted the Eagles (19-2-2) to the Minnesota Class AA boys soccer title with a 2-1 win over Mounds View on Thursday at the Metrodome in Minneapolis.
* Benilde-St. Margaret's (17-4-1) won its fourth state title with a 2-1 win over Mankato West in the Class A championship.

Mahtomedi earns third straight title
Undefeated Mahtomedi (23-0-1) won its fifth state title and third straight with a 3-0 win over Benilde-St. Margaret's in the Class A championship.
