Molly Burger of Hayward led the field of 183 in 19 minutes, 12.1 seconds, and Tofte was next in 19:14.2. Grand Rapids senior Addie Byrne was seventh in 19:33.3.
Two-time defending Minnesota high school boys champion Joe Dubay, a senior from Andover, has been training in Finland this school year, but is home on a break and was first in a field of 394 in the boys 5K classical in 15:03.6. No. 2-ranked Kasey Bosco of Wayzata was second in 15:09, while East senior Gus Downs was fourth 15:56.7 and Proctor sophomore Erik Rupert was 11th in 16:34.4.
