Prep report: Diener, Sheedy guide Marshall past Hibbing

Geordie Diener got a pass from Patrick Sheedy in the sixth minute to score the first goal, and Doug Frey added another in the 14th minute to put the Hilltoppers ahead 2-0.

In the 25th minute, Aaron Wagner scored the Bluejackets' lone goal.

One minute into the second half, Sheedy and Diener connected again; this time Sheedy scored to seal the game 3-1.

Derek Randall earned the win for the Hilltoppers with two saves, while Sam Newman from Hibbing had seven saves.

Hermantown 3, Carlton 1

The Hawks improved to 9-4 overall, 2-0 in the Lake Superior Conference after defeating the Bulldogs (6-2, 5-0 Polar League) in Hermantown.

Sannie Olson carried the Hawks with 41 set assists while teammate Kelly Fichtner added 13 kills and Sarah Tervo had 11 kills.

Cortney Ebel paced the Hawks with 16 digs and six blocks.

The Hawks' next game is Thursday against Lake Superior Conference leader Ashland (9-4, 4-0) at Hermantown. The Bulldogs play at 6:30 p.m. today at Cook County.

Chisholm 3, Two Harbors 0

The 12-3 Bluestreaks defeated the 6-5-2 Agates to hold second place in the Iron Range Conference.

Alyssa Amic led the Bluestreaks with 13 kills, while Alyssa McDonald added nine kills and nine digs. Jenna Foley led the Bluestreaks with 16 set assists.

The Bluestreaks travel to Virginia on Friday for an Iron Range Conference battle against third-place Hibbing. The Agates face Barnum on Thursday.
