A Level 3 predatory offender who left the Hibbing area on April 30 without registering a current address was arrested Sunday in Jacksonville, Fla., Hibbing police said.
Gregory Allen Bye, 36, had been accused of repeatedly approaching a woman at her workplace when he allegedly left Hibbing without providing the required address update. An investigation by the U.S. Marshals Office and other agencies located Bye in Jacksonville, where police apprehended him after a short chase, Hibbing police said.
Bye was arrested on a felony charge of failure to register as a predatory
offender and on a gross misdemeanor charge of stalking.
The Minnesota Department of Corrections and the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office have begun proceedings to extradite Bye to Minnesota.
