About 3,000 Duluth residents lost electricity late Tuesday evening, according to Minnesota Power spokesman Steve Kinney.
The extent or reason for the outage wasn't immediately known, Kinney said at 10:15 p.m. Tuesday.
The power outage began at about 9:45 p.m. and ranged across downtown Duluth from 12th Avenue East to 15th Avenue West. A News Tribune reporter on East Sixth Street said he could see lights on across Chester Creek, but to the west, Sixth Street was all dark.
"A major feeder switched off," Kinney said. "We don't know why. It's kind of surprising."
