POPLAR -- Sometime before 10 a.m. Thursday, a man authorities describe as between 20 and 30 years old, about 5-foot-8, with short black hair and wearing thick Buddy Holly-styled glasses got a ride into Poplar.
According to authorities, he arrived at a convenience store by taxi and told his driver he was going to buy some cigarettes. Instead of picking up smokes, Lt. Jerry Moe of the Douglas County Sheriff's Department said, the suspect made a stop at the bank.
Without showing a weapon, the suspect allegedly demanded cash. After collecting his loot, a teller said he sprinted away, abandoned his cab and ran past nearby businesses.
A Superior Police K9 unit arrived to sniff out the robber. But, perhaps a better lead came from the cab driver he stiffed, who told police where he picked up the suspect.
Moe said it's an address in Duluth.

The FBI would not divulge how much money was stolen. The National Bank of Commerce also declined comment.
