Duluth police are asking for the public's help in identifying a man who apparently impersonated a St. Louis County Child Care Services worker Tuesday.
According to police, a "young-looking Asian" man came to a recently opened child-care facility on the 400 block of North 78th Avenue West about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday. The man had what appeared to be St. Louis County identification credentials, including a name tag embossed with the name "Lonny" as well as "Child Care Services" printed on it. The person attempted to talk his way into the residence by saying he had a "child development video" that the reporting person needed to watch. The person refused to let the man enter.
After being denied entry, the man asked the reporting person if she was going to be home Saturday or Sunday as well as any other day that "worked for her." The male left the residence but stood in the area for about five minutes before leaving on foot. St. Louis County Initial Intervention Unit and Child Care Services said none of their staff members were out during the time, nor did they recognize the description or name given.
The police are asking anyone who had a similar encounter to call 911.
