A police pursuit that started in Douglas County and went over the Blatnik Bridge early Saturday ended when the driver stopped in the parking lot of the St. Louis County Jail, and was booked into that facility.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the pursuit crossed from Wisconsin into Minnesota at about 1:30 a.m. Saturday. After stopping in the parking lot of the jail on Haines Road in Duluth, the 27-year-old male driver of the vehicle was taken into custody by a state trooper and lodged in the jail on preliminary charges of fleeing, and driving while intoxicated.
Duluth Police Chief Gordon Ramsay reported on Facebook that the pursuit crossed the Blatnik Bridge and proceeded north on U.S. Highway 53 before ending at the jail.
Information on what initiated the pursuit was not available on Sunday.
