Duluth police are investigating two sexual assaults that recently occurred in the East Hillside neighborhood, according to a news release issued Wednesday.

The release was issued as a warning to the public to take appropriate safety precautions.

Police said both incidents occurred during the evening, with the suspect gaining entry to the residence through a window or unlocked door.

Sgt. Bob Shene, supervisor of the Duluth police Violent Crimes and Family Crimes units, said it's an active investigation and wouldn't comment. He said police have some identifying information on the suspect or suspects, but he declined to release that information.

He also wouldn't comment on whether police believe the incidents are related.
