Police identify man who died in Lake Vermilion fall

The 64-year-old man who died shortly after falling from a boat into Lake Vermilion was identified Thursday.
Gerald Kamtz, 64, was not wearing a life preserver when he fell out of a boat traveling through the Cable Bay area Wednesday. Kamtz was pulled from the water and transported by boat to shore, then to Essentia Health-Virginia Clinic, where he was pronounced dead. The incident remains under investigation by the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office.
