Duluth police arrested a man who was threatening to shoot his neighbor, after a brief standoff this morning.
According to police, officers responded to the area of 24th Avenue West above Sixth Street shortly before 10:30 a.m. Neighbors had reported hearing loud voices and threats but did not see a weapon.
After a short standoff, the suspect exited the back of his residence with a self-inflicted cut on his arm. He was taken into custody and to the hospital for medical attention and evaluation.
The Duluth Police Department believes alcohol was a major factor in this incident. Police investigation revealed that in the early morning hours the suspect had had a physical altercation with the neighbor he later threatened. Prior to the fight, the two drank together most of the night.
