A 29-year-old Hibbing man was arrested Wednesday in connection with the death of a 1-year-old boy on Sunday.
Joseph Thomas Ricketts III was taken into custody by Hibbing police and is being held in the St. Louis County Jail in Duluth, where he was being held on preliminary charges of second-degree murder and first-degree manslaughter.
The boy was found unresponsive at 426 E. 32nd St. shortly after 3 p.m. Sunday. According to police, Ricketts lived at that address. The boy was transported to Fairview University Medical Center-Mesabi where an autopsy was conducted. The results are pending.
The case remains under investigation by the Hibbing Police Department.
