Poet Paul Zimmer coming to CSS

Award-winning poet Paul Zimmer will read from his new book, "Crossing to Sunlight Revisited: New and Selected Poems," at 7:30 p.m. April 26 in Somers Lounge on the College of St. Scholastica campus. The event concludes the 11th season of the Spirit Lake Poetry Series.

Zimmer has published 12 books of poetry, including "Family Reunion," which won an Award for Literature from the American Academy and Institute of Arts and Letters, and "The Great Bird of Love," which was selected by William Stafford for the National Poetry Series. He has also authored two books of prose.

He has read his poems at close to 300 colleges and poetry centers from coast to coast, recorded his poems for the Library of Congress, received three Pushcart Prizes and his poems have been widely anthologized.

Born in Canton, Ohio, Zimmer worked for 40 years in the book business. He is now retired and lives on a farm in Wisconsin and spends part of each year in the south of France.

Admission to the event is free, and complimentary refreshments will be served. Zimmer will sign books following his performance.
