A plea hearing has been set for an Iron River man accused of killing his parents.
The hearing for James Edbert Crain Jr. is scheduled for 1:15 p.m. Sept. 30 at the Bayfield County Courthouse in Washburn, according to court records.
Crain, 44, pleaded not guilty on May 6 to two charges of intentional homicide, two counts of battery to law enforcement officers and a count of failure to comply with an officer’s order. A jury trial had been set for Dec. 9 - one year and two days after Crain’s parents, 79-year-old Jim Crain and 76-year-old Eunice “Crickett” Crain, were found dead from knife wounds in their Iron River apartment. Their deaths stunned the community where the elderly couple were well-known.
Crain is represented by Aaron Marcoux, a Bayfield County public defender.
