Common name: Coralbells (sometimes alum root)
Botanical name: Heuchera sanguinea and H. micrantha
Description: Evergreen to semi-evergreen perennial, 12 to 18 inches tall with colorful foliage ranging from shades of green to purple to almost black, some with silver veins
Companion plants: Hostas, ferns, tiarella, thrift, creeping phlox, pansies and many other low-growing perennials.
Cultural needs: Moderately moist to well-drained soil; part shade to full sun.

Care: Water regularly the first year; too much water kills them. Trim off old foliage before new growth emerges in spring. In spring, divide large clumps every three years.
Uses: Containers, borders along walkways and paths, groundcover and foreground plant. Provides exceptional winter interest.
Cold hardiness: Zones 4-9.
Problems: None serious. Listed as deer resistant.
