A small airplane made an emergency landing at Hibbing-Chisholm International Airport shortly after takeoff this morning.
Mesaba Airlines flight 2706 with 18 passengers and three crew members were en route to Minneapolis when a mechanical issue forced the plane back to Hibbing at about 8 a.m., said Leslie Parker, a spokeswoman with Delta Airlines, Mesaba's parent company. The Saab 340 aircraft took off at 7:27 a.m. and no injuries were reported.
The passengers were bused to Duluth where further flight arrangements were made, Parker said.
"They will determine the issue, fix it, and it will be back in service when it's fixed," Parker said.
