A pickup truck left Tower Avenue in Superior at 55 mph this morning, went through one wall of a construction company's building and partway through another before coming to a stop in a pile of rubble.
No one was in the building and the injuries to the 80-year-old driver, who was alone in the truck, "miraculously" appeared to not be very serious, said Superior Fire Department Battalion Chief Scott Gordon.
"It would have been very serious had it been a weekday," Gordon said. A secretary's office was destroyed by the impact, he said.
The Fire Department was called at 8:37 a.m. after a Town of Superior volunteer firefighter who happened to be following the pickup truck witnessed the accident and called 911, Gordon said.
The driver's identity is being withheld until relatives are notified.

Gordon said it appeared that medical issues may have caused the accident. The driver never hit the brakes, he said. The truck went airborne off Tower Avenue and between two utility poles before going through the wall of Four Star Construction, 7500 Tower Ave. The truck continued through the building and halfway through the opposite wall. Firefighters had to stabilize the vehicle and cut through a door before the driver could be removed by Gold Cross ambulance paramedics and taken to St. Mary's Hospital-Superior.
But Gordon said the driver was conscious and coherent throughout the ordeal.
Two Superior fire trucks were sent to the scene along with the ambulance and Douglas County Sheriff's Department deputies.
