But how about a Vizsla? Kurt Radke is sold on his.

Then again, you might want to consider a springer spaniel. Or an English pointer. Or a German shorthair pointer. Or a golden retriever. Or a Brittany spaniel.

And don't tell Bob Allie that an English cocker spaniel can't deliver the goods. His Leo does it every October.

When Minnesota's pheasant season opens Saturday, you probably could find all of these breeds in the field. And, depending on how you like to hunt, any of them can be excellent pheasant dogs.

The important thing, according to several seasoned pheasant hunters, is to decide how you want to hunt pheasants, then get the dog that fits your style. And you have to recognize your breed's strengths and limitations.
