Penguins recall Grand Rapids native Goligoski

Pittsburgh rookie defenseman Alex Goligoski of Grand Rapids has joined the Penguins on emergency recall for today's Game 5 of the Stanley Cup finals in Detroit. It's expected he'll be a spare player.

He was recalled from Pittsburgh's American Hockey League team in Wilkes-Barre-Scranton because Kris Letang left the team to attend the funeral of Vancouver defenseman Luc Bourdon, who died in a motorcycle accident Thursday.

Goligoski, 22, has played in three games with the Penguins this season. During the regular season, with Wilkes-Barre-Scranton, he had 10 goals and 28 assists for 38 points in 70 games. During the AHL playoffs, he has four goals and 22 assists for 26 points in 19 games.

Wilkes-Barre-Scranton trails Chicago 2-0 in the AHL Calder Cup final.
