Outage affects thousands in eastern Duluth neighborhood

Power was late Monday to more than 2,000 customers in Lakeside-Lester Park and other Duluth neighborhoods and nearby townships, according to Minnesota Power's outage report.

No official word of the cause was given, but wires were seen on the ground near Lakeside Presbyterian Church on 45th Avenue East between McCulloch and Robinson streets.

Minnesota Power's map indicated the outage began just after 6 p.m. Power was expected to be restored by 9:15 p.m.

In addition to Lakeside-Lester Park, outages were reported in Gnesen Township. UMD-Chester Creek, Parkview, North Shore, Woodland, Normanna Township, city of Rice Lake, Congdon Park, Lakewood Township and Kenwood.
