Gichigami Trio is a taste of the great classical music that Duluth's campuses offer. And you don't have to know about classical music to love it. You just need to open your ears and let your mind wander. Think of it as a soundtrack to meditation.
One of this concert's featured composers, Bradley Sowash, wrote, "As a child, I could not distinguish between the terms 'musician' and 'magician.' Not only did they sound alike, but seemed to me to function the same way by bringing people to their sense of awe. Music, for me, is a language that addresses the emotional places we have in common but seldom discuss." The Trio (Laurie Bastian, violin; Josh Aerie, cello; and Sam Black, piano) also will play Haydn and Brahms, who probably felt similar.
Tickets cost $6 for students; $12 for adults. Music begins at 7:30 p.m. today in Mitchell Auditorium at the College of St. Scholastica.
