One person died and two others were injured Saturday when a tree fell on the roof of a truck traveling on a state highway in southeastern Minnesota.

The Minnesota State Patrol reported that the incident happened at about 8:45 a.m. Saturday along Minnesota Highway 26 south of Brownsville, along the Mississippi River. A Chevrolet Silverado was heading south on Highway 26, just south of Neumann Road, when a tree fell from the west-side bluff as the truck was rounding a curve, the Patrol reported. The tree landed on the windshield and roof of the truck.

The Patrol reported that the driver of the truck, a 50-year-old man from West Salem, Wis., died in the crash. Two passengers - a 51-year-old woman and a 16-year-old girl, both also from West Salem - were injured and transported to a hospital in La Crosse, Wis., the Patrol said. The names of those involved in the crash have not yet been released.
