One killed in Bayfield County collision

A woman was killed in a two-vehicle collision near Bayfield on Monday morning.
The Bayfield County Sheriff’s Office said a pickup truck that was southbound on state Highway 13 a little more than a mile north of Bayfield crossed into the northbound lane, colliding with a car. The crash was reported just before 11 a.m.
The woman in the car had to be extricated and was taken to Memorial Medical Center in Ashland but did not survive her injuries, according to the Sheriff’s Office. She had no passengers.
The man who drove the pickup truck also was taken to Memorial Medical Center with what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries, the Sheriff’s Office said. A man who was a passenger in the truck was uninjured.
All involved in the crash were area residents, the Sheriff’s Office said, but names and details were being withheld until a preliminary investigation was completed.
