Northwest Airlines has dropped a Minneapolis-bound flight from its schedule of Duluth departures at least for the summer.
Brian Ryks, executive director of the Duluth Airport Authority, said the flight, which left Duluth at 5:15 a.m., had been running for about three years and ran six days a week.
Its suspension for June, July and August is part of Northwest's overall capacity reduction, he said, which is linked to high fuel costs.
Ryks said he did not know the likelihood of the flight returning in autumn. Its cessation will mean less in landing fees for the Duluth airport, but the lease agreement between the airport and Northwest will remain unaffected.
