The Northland's NewsCenter is pleased to announce the addition of real-time closed captioning for select newscasts, breaking news, weather coverage, and other special programming events.

Real-time closed captioning will be in effect for all special event coverage, including, but not limited to, political debates, weather alerts and breaking news.

The following Northland's NewsCenter programming is currently captioned using real-time closed captioning: NewsCenter At Six on NBC 6 (Monday through Saturday), NewsCenter at Ten on NBC 6 (Monday through Sunday), NewsCenter Tonight on My 9, and the Northland's CW 2 (Monday through Friday) and NewsCenter Tonight on CBS 3 (Monday through Friday).

In July the Northland's NewsCenter established a relationship with Caption Associates, a real-time closed captioning provider in Kansas, to provide industry standard, real-time closed captioning for our deaf and hard of hearing audience.

"The Northland's NewsCenter is happy to extend this service of real-time closed captioning to up to 10 percent of our viewing audience who rely on closed captioning," said David Jensch, NewsCenter station manager.

The Northland's NewsCenter also works with the state of Minnesota and Deaf/Hard of Hearing Services, attending regular meetings, to meet with the deaf and hard of hearing community, to gather feedback and work to improve its closed captioning product.
