Memorial Day events include:

Proctor Memorial Day Observance, 10 a.m. today, Proctor Area Community Center on Pionk Drive. Keynote speaker: Neil Atkins, 1968 Proctor graduate and a U.S. Navy hospital corpsmen assigned overseas from 1970 to 1972 and in the reserve from 1969 to 1975. Music by Kerry Welsh on bagpipes and Proctor Community Band.

Memorial Day Mass, offered by Diocese of Duluth, 10 a.m. today, Calvary Cemetery, 4820 Howard Gnesen Road. The Rev. James Bissonette presiding. Bring your own chair.

Veterans Remembered, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. today, Moose Lake Depot & Fires of 1918 Museum. All vets welcome to come and share their stories. Refresh-ments will be served. Call (218) 485-8509.

Memorial Day Parade, noon today in West Duluth. Parade on Grand Avenue starting at 59th Avenue West and Grand Avenue, turning on 46th Avenue West and ending at Public Schools Stadium, 4405 W. Fourth St. Memorial Day service follows. Call (218) 624-5518.

Veterans Picnic, at 1 p.m. today, Richard I. Bong Veterans Historical Center in Superior. Features a free concert by the Superior Singers, "Sweet Land of Liberty."

Douglas County Veterans Memorial Day Council will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Soldier's Circle at 10:30 a.m. today. Keynote speaker: Bob Fuhrman.

Richard I. Bong American Legion Post No. 435 and Thomas F. Stein VFW Post No. 1091 at noon today for combined color guard and flag raising at Richard I. Bong Veterans Historical Center in Superior.

Bong-Hofstedt American Legion Memorial Post No. 409 -- Poplar will be at these locations today.
