Bayfield County teen hurt in boating mishap
A Bayfield County teen was hospitalized in Duluth in stable condition Wednesday after a boating accident.
David Wartman, 19, apparently crashed into a Washburn coal dock Monday morning, according to the Bayfield County Sheriff's Office. Once Wartman regained consciousness he was confused and he drifted in his boat for most of the day until he reached land.
He was transported by helicopter to SMDC Medical Center in Duluth.
Man's body found in Rainy Lake

Canadian authorities are investigating the death of a man whose body was found in Rainy Lake.
A passerby spotted 43-year-old Robert Mainville in Duck Bay on Monday morning. He had fallen out of a boat three days earlier.
The Ontario provincial police and the coroner's office are investigating.
Mainville was a member of the Couchiching First Nation near Fort Frances.
Counterfeit money being circulated in Twin Ports
Counterfeit $100 bills are circulating throughout the Twin Ports, according to Duluth police.
Fake $100 bills have been printed on bleached $5 bills, said Officer Brad Wick, Duluth police information coordinator.
"Merchants need to be diligent to check any large bills they take and check for appropriate water marks and embedded security threads," he said.

WDIO hires new reporter
A new Eyewitness News reporter has joined WDIO-WIRT-DT.
Alan Hoglund, a 2010 graduate of Bethel University in St. Paul with a bachelor's degree in media communication, is from Lakeville, Minn.
At Bethel, he was news director of WBCS radio and television, and he has interned at both KSTP-TV and KTLK radio in the Twin Cities.
Hoglund began reporting in June.
