Area residents can expect to hear more noise coming from Duluth's 148th Fighter Wing over the next several days as the outfit prepares for an operational readiness inspection.

From Thursday to Sunday there will be more flights than normal, noise from simulated explosions and simulated small arms fire, increased vehicle traffic and radio transmissions relating to simulated emergencies on the base. The exercise will provide members of the 148th with realistic combat training.

The majority of the activities will take place on Friday and Saturday. Community members can expect to hear the increased activity, including jet flights, from early morning to late in the evening on those days.
