New tennis coaches at East

Lee Kruger and Meghan Kimber have accepted to co-coach the Greyhounds Tennis program at East High School this fall. They take over for Bill Garnett who has decided to step down to spend more time with his family.

Lee Kruger and Meghan Kimber have accepted to co-coach the Greyhounds Tennis program at East High School this fall. They take over for Bill Garnett who has decided to step down to spend more time with his family.

Garnett coached the Greyhounds for four years where he had a record of 40-36 and his teams qualified for the section meet all four years during his tenure.

Kruger was a standout player at Minnetonka High School where he was a five-time letter winner and three time All Conference player. Kruger went on to play collegiate tennis at MIAC power Gustavus Adolphus where he was named All MIAC and "player of year" his senior season. His coaching experience includes stints at East, where he coached for the boys and girls programs. He also worked as an assistant coach at St. Scholastica. He is currently the Longview Tennis professional and teacher at East High School.

Kimber was a standout tennis player at East High School from 1990-1995 where she was named All-Conference and participated in the state tennis meet six straight years. Kimber went on to played college tennis at both the University of Minnesota and Gustavus Adolphus.

At Gustavus Kimber, a three-time All American and two-year captain, was named "player-of-the-year" her senior year. Kimber is a licensed teacher in mathematics.
