The Rev. Laurie Boche recently was appointed the new pastor at Hope United Methodist Church in Duluth.

Boche's first worship service will be on June 28.

Boche is moving from Mapleton, Minn., where she was a pastor at Beauford United Methodist Church for the past four years. She is replacing Dan Schneider-Bryan.

"It's definitely nerve-wracking to move somewhere new," said Boche, who found out about her appointment on Easter. "But I'm looking forward to being a part of the faith community there and the Duluth community as well. It's the next big adventure."

Before becoming a pastor, Boche was involved in many nonprofit organizations, including the League of Women Voters. But after growing up with the church -- her father is a retired elder -- she realized that being a pastor was her call, she said.

"This is what I love doing," Boche said.

A barbecue luncheon will be held after the 10 a.m. June 28 service. Visitors are welcome to attend.
