Minnesota State College and Universities Chancellor James McCormick will recommend Patrick Johns to become president of Lake Superior College, the state organization announced Monday.
The Board of Trustees will act on the recommendation Wednesday. Johns would replace Kathleen Nelson, who is retiring.
Johns has been president of Anoka-Ramsey Community College in Coon Rapids, Minn., since 1991, serving as interim president, executive dean and
acting financial aid director before that.
He also has held several positions at Mesabi Range Community and Technical College and has been assistant men's basketball coach at the University of Minnesota Duluth. He also has worked at Minnesota West Community and Technical College and Riverland Community College.

Johns is a UMD graduate and holds a master's degree from the University of Wisconsin-Superior and a doctoral degree from the University of
South Dakota.
