New face enters race for Duluth School Board
Amber Sadowski works at a local nonprofit that helps at-risk youth.
Amber Sadowski announced Monday she is running for one of the two at large seats on the Duluth School Board.
Sadowski said in a news release that she has considered running for School Board for several years.
"I am running for School Board because I believe in the importance of a strong and diverse public education system, which is directly correlated to positive outcomes in social and economic growth," Sadowski said. "In addition, our public schools are a significant place in our society where young people have the opportunity to interact with and befriend students with varied backgrounds and perspectives."
Sadowski works as a community development director at Life House, a local nonprofit that provides comprehensive services to at-risk youth and youth experiencing homelessness. Before moving into her role as community development director in March 2020, Sadowski worked for four years as the education case manager, providing opportunities for youth to attain personal educational goals related to earning their high school credential and attending college.

Lofald, Loeffler-Kemp, Durick Eder to seek reelection to Duluth School Board Jill Lofald is in her second term as board chair of the Duluth School Board. Rosie Loeffler-Kemp is seeking her third term as a board member. Kelly Durick Eder is looking to secure her first four-year term.
Duluth City Council, School Board filings begin next week The primary election will take place Aug. 10 and the general election will be Nov. 2.
"My experience of working with some of our district’s most at-risk youth, as well as helping my own children navigate various educational dynamics, provides me with a uniquely balanced perspective for an at large position," Sadowski said. "I was also a licensed child care provider for many years and understand the impact a strong pre-K program has on the trajectory of a student’s academic career."
The filing deadline for Duluth School Board is 4 p.m. Tuesday. As of Monday morning, Sadowski and Kelly Durick Eder are running for two open at large seats; Jill Lofald is running unopposed in District 4; and Rosie Loeffler-Kemp is running against Dana Krivogorsky for the District 1 seat.
