The Duluth-area nonprofit group 23rd Veteran will host its second annual Nearly Naked Ruck March on Saturday to raise money for its efforts to raise awareness about suicide among veterans.
Veterans, military personnel and civilians are invited to hike for 6 or 10 miles along the Duluth Lakewalk, carrying weighted packs and wearing nothing but boots, hats, gloves and long underwear.
For every $10 that participants raise for 23rd Veteran, they’ll add a pound to their pack.
“Many sport teams and clubs are raising money as a team, and will carry the weight in their packs as a team,” organizers said. “This weight symbolizes the weight that we carry in the battle against combat stress.”
The march starts at 10 a.m. at Bayfront Festival Park. Find more information about the event and 23rd Veteran at 23rdveteran.org .
