Outlook: Eau Claire tied for fifth in the regular season, but the Blugolds won their lone stop at Wessman with a 3-1 victory Dec. 8. The Yellowjackets won the return meeting 2-1 at Eau Claire on Feb. 8. Senior left winger Sean Garrity leads Eau Claire in goals (11) and points (24) this season. He has 24 goals and 51 points for his career. Junior right winger Andrew Johnson also has 11 goals. Sophomore Tyler Brigl has played in goal in every Blugolds game except one, posting a 2.45 goals-against average and a .902 save percentage. His goals-against average shrunk to 1.92 in conference games. ... The Yellowjackets finished fourth in the league, but with eight ties were just a few goals away from contending for first. UWS broke out of a season-long scoring slump in last week's 6-6 tie with St. Scholastica. Part of the reason has been the return of key injured players. Sophomore Braden Desmet (4-9--13), who missed half the season, scored twice against the Saints. Junior forward Kevin Huck (12-11--23) and freshman forward Logan Isley (10-11--21) lead the team in scoring. Junior Chad Beiswenger is the team's top goaltender with an 11-3-6 record, 1.80 goals-against average and a .931 save percentage. His goals-against average is third-best in the NCHA.
