A 40-year-old Mountain Iron man is in custody today after an early morning shooting.
The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office received a report at 2:51 a.m. that a person had been shot. Deputies arrived to find a 33-year-old Mountain Iron man lying on a garage floor with two other men in the building.
A 53-year-old Mountain Iron man was a witness.
The victim was transported by Virginia Ambulance Service to the Virginia Regional Medical Center and transferred by Air Ambulance to SMDC Medical Center in Duluth to undergo surgery for his injuries.
The suspect was taken into custody at the scene and transported to St. Louis County Jail in Virginia, where he is being held pending further investigation and charges.

The investigation continues by St. Louis County Sheriff's Office in Virginia and Mountain Iron.
A news conference is scheduled for 2 p.m. today at the St. Louis County Court House in Virginia.
