Wyatt McCoy of Mounds View became the first eighth-grader in Minnesota history to win a high school boys tennis championship as he beat Blaine junior Paul Swanson 6-2, 6-0 Friday at the Life Time Fitness 98th Street Club in Bloomington, Minn. Mounds View also won the Class AA doubles title.

McCoy eliminated defending champion Mike Sicora, a Buffalo junior, in the semifinals 4-6, 7-6 (7-3), 6-0. Sicora earned the third-place title.

Grand Rapids senior Joe Stejskal lost in the Class AA consolation semifinals to Ken Nichols of Elk River 2-6, 6-3, 6-2 and finished the season 22-2.

* Mounds Park Academy senior Brian Kelly defeated Ben Kopecky of Rochester Lourdes 7-5, 6-0 for the Class A singles title in Burnsville. Kelly's sister, Brenna, won the Minnesota Class A girls title last fall as a freshman.

Virginia juniors Nico Sacchetti and Brian Villa lost in the Class A doubles consolation final to Cody Bottem and Jordan Swanson of Thief River Falls 6-7 (7-5), 6-1, 6-3.
