A 54-year-old motorcyclist was killed when a car turned in front of him on Highway 135 near Biwabik on Wednesday evening.
The Minnesota State Patrol reported that Robert Erwin Bantz of Gilbert was traveling westbound on Highway 135 when a vehicle, driven by Anna Kirsten Mattila, 65, of Virginia, turned left onto Heritage Trail from eastbound Highway 135. Bantz struck the passenger side of the vehicle as it made the turn, throwing him off the motorcycle, at about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, according to the State Patrol.
