A lone motorcycle rider was killed around 1:20 p.m. today, according to Sheriff Tom Dalbec.
The Douglas County Sheriff's Department was called to County Highway D, north of U.S. Highway 2 in the village of Poplar.
The rider was pronounced dead at the scene.
The sheriff declined to identify the individual pending notification of next of kin.
The accident remains under investigation by the Douglas County Sheriff's Department, county medical examiner and Wisconsin State Patrol.
