A throng of people displaying rainbow-themed flags, balloons and dress rallied Monday afternoon in Proctor to show their support for Max Pelofske, a gay 21-year-old Duluth man sent to the hospital with deep bruises after an alleged assault late Saturday night.

The Twin Ports Wind Orchestra will present the world premiere of "Twin Ports Overture" by composer Mark Camphouse during a concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday. The eight-minute piece of music was commissioned by the orchestra in memory of Jim Stellmaker, formerly the band's principal trombonist who taught at Duluth Central for 25 years.
