A fire caused extensive damage to Beijing Restaurant in Duluth’s Endion neighborhood this morning.
The Duluth Fire Department responded to a call of a structure fire at the restaurant, 1918 London Road, at 5:52 a.m. and arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the roof. Crews quickly extinguished the fire, which had engulfed the first floor, according to the fire department. The fire did not extend into the attic space. The building was unoccupied at the time of the fire and there were no reported civilian or firefighter injuries, according to the fire department.
The Duluth Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the fire’s origin and cause. Damage is estimated at $100,000 for the structure and $50,000 for the contents, according to the fire department.
