More than 1,400 drivers caught speeding

Minnesota law enforcement officers cited more than 1,400 drivers for speeding during the first two weeks of the HEAT (Highway Enforcement of Aggressive Traffic) campaign.

Minnesota law enforcement officers cited more than 1,400 drivers for speeding during the first two weeks of the HEAT (Highway Enforcement of Aggressive Traffic) campaign.

From June 4-16, 3,831 vehicles were stopped for traffic violations statewide and 1,438 drivers were ticketed for speeding.

In the Duluth state patrol district, 152 vehicles were stopped, and 81 speeding tickets issued. In the Virginia state patrol district, 309 vehicles were pulled over and 81 speeding tickets issued.

HEAT is a federally funded enforcement program supported by almost 25,000 overtime hours of dedicated speed patrols by the state patrol, county sheriff's offices and local police departments.
