Moorhead senior wins girls golf title; Northland golfers tie

COON RAPIDS, Minn. -- Grand Rapids junior Meagan Grozdanich and Duluth East freshman Tabitha Kunst shot 22-over-par 168 for 36 holes to tie for 28th place in the Minnesota Class AAA high school girls golf tournament at Bunker Hills Golf Course on Wednesday.

Also from Grand Rapids were Mikki Kromy (175), Katie Casper (177) and Ellen Liebe (186).

Woodbury won the team title with 678 strokes, while Moorhead senior Ali Nelson won the individual title at 150.

Isle in third

Junior Haley Gudin shot 92 to lead third-place Isle with 410 strokes in the Class A girls meet at Pebble Creek Golf Club in Becker, Minn.

Mounds Park Academy of St. Paul was the opening-round leader at 367 with junior Natalie Lansing leading the field at 80.

Boys

Duluth East senior Troy Klongerbo placed 29th in Class AAA at 78-77-155 and classmate Nate Anderson shot 82-76-158.

Senior Billy Barnhart was medalist at 72-69-141 to lead Park of Cottage Grove to the team championship.

In Class A, Mesabi East junior Casey Zins was tied for 16th after the first day at 80 in Becker. Ely was last among eight teams at 376, while Meadow Creek Christian led at 312.

TENNIS

No. 4 St. Paul Academy and Summit School won a second straight Class A boys team title by defeating No. 2 Rochester Lourdes 6-1 at the Reed-Sweatt Family Tennis Center in Minneapolis.

No. 2 Edina beat No. 1 Mounds View 5-2 for the Class AA championship at the Baseline Tennis Center in Minneapolis.
