Monday's weather for Duluth and the Northland: Today may come up stormy

A good way to tell what style pressure system is coming our way is to keep an eye on the wind direction. Lows spin counterclockwise. Highs spin clockwise. So if wind direction changes along those lines, you can tell if the sky will clear or cloud up.

A good way to tell what style pressure system is coming our way is to keep an eye on the wind direction. Lows spin counterclockwise. Highs spin clockwise. So if wind direction changes along those lines, you can tell if the sky will clear or cloud up. Today, the winds will veer clockwise from southwest to northwest meaning a high is approaching. However, that high might not get here until Tuesday.

So, Monday will be under the departing influence of a low that will create a partly sunny sky and a 40 percent chance for showers and thunderstorms all around the region. Minnesota's high temperatures will hit between 77 and 84. Wisconsin should top out from 82 to 88. Winds will start SW from 10-15 mph and later become NW 5-10 mph. The dew point will be around 67 so it should feel humid outside.

Tuesday should greet our new high pressure cell with a mostly sunny sky. As soon as Wednesday, though, a fresh low brings back the rain chance. More rain chances will be here Friday and Saturday. Highs this week start in the 80's but fall to the 70's later on.

Five-day forecast
Today: Partly sunny with 40 percent storm chance with high 83 and low 59
Tuesday: Mostly sunny with high 81 and low 61
Wednesday: Partly sunny with 40 percent rain chance with high 82 and low 62
Thursday: Partly cloudy with high 78 and low 58
Friday: Mostly cloudy with 50 percent rain chance with high 76 and low 59
