We weather people like our fancy terms for simple concepts. Rising air has to be called convection. A sideways motion of air is called advection. Sounds more technical than "wind," doesn't it? Warm air advection from the south will warm up the Northland today.
A cell of high air pressure is here, too, so it should be a sunny and very dry day. Southerly winds from 10-20 mph will help make Minnesota's high temperatures push between 70 to 74 by Lake Superior and 73 to 77 for inland areas. The normal is 68. Wisconsin's range of temps will run from 73 lakeside to 78 inland.
Temperatures in the 70s will hold on until Wednesday. That day will also see our only rain chance of the week. The odds of that one paying off are 30 percent. After that, it will get sunny again but cool to the mid-60s.
