Sunday was graced by a high pressure cell, so most folks managed a clear to partly cloudy sky. That cloud-squashing high may still be with us a few hours this morning, but in the afternoon, it will retreat. That will allow yet another potent low-pressure system to migrate into the region.
This afternoon and evening have a 40 percent chance for severe thunderstorms. "Severe" means possible high wind, large hail and heavy rain. The forecasting model indicates one to two inches of rain could fall by noon Tuesday.
Tuesday afternoon will be a time of change. The low will go to greet the East, and another new-and-improved high will settle in to bring several days of sunshine. High temperatures this week will be near 80 for a few more days, but an end to the warm spell is in sight. Highs in the 70s will be more likely by Saturday.
