A woman from Cottage Grove, Minn., was killed when her car collided with a garbage truck Friday morning near Rushmore, Minn., in the southwestern part of the state.
According to the Nobles County Sheriff's Office, Jean Marie Mesner, 57, of Cottage Grove, died at the scene of the accident that occurred at about 6:30 a.m.
Mesner was southbound on Nobles County Highway 13 and failed to yield at the stop sign at the intersection with Nobles County Highway 35. Her vehicle was struck by a garbage truck owned by Schaap Sanitation Inc. of Worthington, driven by Donald Wayne Vanderlinden, 53, of Worthington. Vanderlinden was not injured.
The investigation into the accident continues.
