Motorized vehicles will make way for runners in downtown Duluth on Sunday.
Traffic will be diverted from portions of Superior Street beginning at 8:30 a.m., Duluth police said. The Minnesota Mile races begin at 9 a.m.
Also, motorists are advised to obey temporary āno parkingā signs on both sides of Superior Street from Fourth Avenue West to Eighth Avenue East. Violators will be tagged and towed.
Motorists wishing to drive to Canal Park and the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center will need to use Fifth Avenue West and Railroad Street. Traffic coming off the Interstate 35 ramps to Lake Avenue will be diverted toward Canal Park. Those wishing to drive from Canal Park to the downtown area will have to use Fifth Avenue West.
Michigan Street traffic will be blocked at Fourth Avenue West and diverted at First Avenue West and sent back to Fifth Avenue West.
Downtown traffic is expected to return to normal by about 11:30 a.m., police said.
