WILLMAR, Minn. - A 6-year-old Willmar boy died Thursday night after being struck by a falling television.

According to a news release from Willmar Police Chief Jim Felt, officers were dispatched to a home in the 800 block of Fourth Street Southeast at 7 p.m. Thursday. They were sent to the address because the 911 caller was hysterical and unable to provide specific information over the phone.

Officers learned that Julian Demarce, 6, had been severely injured when a large, older-style television fell off a stand and struck him in the head. The TV weighed more than 190 pounds, according to the release.

The child had been taken to Rice Memorial Hospital by a private vehicle before officers arrived.

After lengthy resuscitation efforts by the hospital staff, the child was pronounced dead.
