Gary-New Duluth ceremony
The Gary New Duluth Veterans Memorial Committee will hold a Memorial Day ceremony at 9 a.m. on Monday, May 30 at the corner of Commonwealth Avenue and Stowe Street, site of the Gary New Duluth Veterans Memorial. Chief Master Sergeant Mark Rukavina, 148th Air National Guard will be the MC.
Dennis Hughes, U.S. Army Medic, Vietnam and Desert Storm, will be the keynote speaker. Duluth Mayor Emily Larson will also give an address.

The Gary New Duluth Veterans Memorial was built in 1952 to commemorate the service of WWII and Korean veterans from the Gary New Duluth community. Check out the Facebook site .
West Duluth Parade
The Northland Memorial Day Parade is Monday, May 30 in West Duluth.
At 10:30 a.m., parade units line up on 59th Avenue West between Raleigh Street and Grand Avenue. The parade begins approximately at 12:30 p.m.
The route heads east from 59th Avenue West onto Grand Avenue and to Central Avenue, then south on Central to Ramsey Street, then east on Ramsey to the finish on Mike Colalillo Drive.
No parking is allowed on Grand Avenue along the parade route. Vehicles in violation will be tagged and towed. Motorists should be aware of detours and officers directing traffic.

The annual event is one of the oldest parades in the region, dating back to 1871.
