My husband's family is from Slovenia and polka is a big part of their life. (His father is even in the polka hall of fame!) Frank and his sisters all took accordion lessons and Frank plays the drums and the buttonbox (similar to an accordion) in his family's polka band, the Singing Slovenes.

So I should not have been surprised near the end of our wedding service when he whispered "I'll be right back" and left.

I looked at the best man and he shrugged his shoulders. My maid of honor had no clue where he had gone either.

It was hot and I worried Frank left because he was going to faint. When my new husband came out with his accordion, the church erupted in applause.

Frank serenaded me with "Let it be Me" by the Everly Brothers. Later he explained that on the day he started accordion lessons at age 10, he decided he would one day serenade his wife. I'm so glad I helped make his 20-year dream come true.
